White powder ( M.A.C )

Date: 2055

Place: Glasgow

In 2055, Glassgow faced something they never believed possible, a drought. This white substance, known today as M.A.C., saved Glasgow. It was discovered by a woman of color named Milly Anderson Clark, and it was widely used as food and water for plants, which kept people alive during the drought.

Ms. Clark discovered the substance accidentally, but her keen powers of observation helped her recognize its properties. While she was cooking, her pet knocked over different ingredients that, when heated, created a liquid. These ingredients were random but Milly was able to recover what her pet knocked over. Curiosity led her to pour the liquid into an old pot that had once been used for growing tomatoes. Within days, her tomatoes began to sprout after months of inactivity.

As pot after pot began to sprout and grow, Ms. Clark’s neighbor began to notice her vegetables. He grew extremely curious about this and decided to spy on her to see how she was growing plants without water. After weeks of watching her he learned how to make the substance, however, he didn’t have the patience or the space to grow his own plants. So, he decided to steal the plant from Ms. Clark and pass it off as his own discovery. He grew famous and became well-known; his name was Jeffery Donald Jefferson and the substance was originally named J.D.J in his honor.

Little did he know, Ms. Clark kept a detailed journal of her discovery, complete with dates, so she was able to prove that she was the one who made the discovery. People of color throughout Glasgow demanded that the official record be changed to name Ms. Clark as the one who pioneered this life-saving discovery,  and after several months of mass protests and a general strike that crippled Glasgow, the substance was re-named M.A.C., and Ms. Clark received the recognition she deserved.
