Date – 2203
Place – Edinburgh
The cultural value of this object far outweighs its humble origins. Used in the late Oil Age (1984?) (function unknown) it was recovered from the Forth Estuary close to the submerged ruins of Edinburgh (former capital of Scotland) during a plastic dredging operation in 2203. For a relatively short period around this time the value of recycled plastic supported a global industry, much of which was based around coastal dredging. This object became iconic at the time because of its size and complex shape. Most recovered plastic was in particle form and so this object was quickly recognised as unique.
The ‘Extremely Rare Large Red Plastic Pointer’, as it became known was later sold at auction for the astonishing sum of six Indiums.*
